Lyons Township High School wins ZONI Sportsmanship Banner
Lyons Township High School’s varsity volleyball was recently awarded ZONI’s Sportsmanship banner. The banner is given to the school whose players, coaches, and fans exhibit the best sportsmanship throughout a season. ZONI members rate their top schools. The team with the overall highest score is awarded a banner. Other schools that score well in the balloting are awarded certificates.
Lyons Township’s varsity team also won Sportsmanship Banners in 2009 and 2006. Its varsity teams have consistently received high sportsmanship marks, earning a banner or certificate from ZONI nearly every year since the Sportsmanship Program started in 1997.
ZONI is proud of all of our winners. The Sportsmanship Awards are given to further one of ZONI’s goals: to support and encourage attitude and behavior that reflects positively on interscholastic volleyball.
For a list of all of this season’s certificate winners and previous season’s winners, please look at our Sportsmanship Page.

It is my pleasure to announce to you that we have within our membership the IHSA Boys Volleyball Official of the Year. Looie Green was presented this award at the Officials Conference held this past weekend in Peoria. I know that some of you were down there to witness this and offer your congratulations to Looie.
Those who know Looie know that he is not one to stand out in the spotlight or look for this type of accolade, no matter how well-deserved they may be. He is a person who goes about the business of officiating and does a fantastic job, always looking to improve both himself and his partner. I would like to ask you to take a few moments and send Looie a quick note of congratulations on his award. For those of you that do not have it, Looie’s e-mail address is:

Thank you for your help in supporting one of our own.
